What To Do On World Kindness Day
If you want a kinder world, all you have to do is open your eyes.
Quite often on the blog, we like to write about tips and tricks to help make people’s lives easier, like hosting coffee mornings and special events for charity. To that end, I thought about looking for ideas for #WorldKindnessDay, but then I realised compassion and kindness are part of us already. They’re as natural as the sun and the sky.
But if that’s the case, why do people seem reluctant to be kind? Well, the answer’s pretty simple:
They aren’t paying attention.
That’s it. When we’re on the tube and staring at our mobiles or walking along with our headphones in, we’re not really aware of what’s going on around us.
Let’s say you’re on the bus and an elderly person needs somewhere to sit. You would give up your seat, right?
But I’m sure there are situations where you may not have been kind, simply because you were caught up in your own thoughts. You weren’t being mean, you just didn’t notice that a person needed help.
So, for #WorldKindnessDay, we’ve got a simple suggestion: just look around now and then. That’s how it starts. See what’s going on and if you can, lend someone a helping hand or even share a friendly smile.
That little moment could make a real difference in more ways than you can imagine.
Giving back is important. Keep doing it:
